Recall a time when you were so involved in an activity that you lost all sense of time? Were you more engaged from the creativity that emerged? Were you surprised when a typical day’s worth of work only took a couple of hours? Did it make you happier? Feel more alive? Some people call that being “in the zone.” Psychologist Mihály Csíkszentmihályi coined the term Flow to express this state of being. In our hyper-connected, highly collaborative, fast-paced world of work with crowded calendars and competing demands, these moments seem few and far between. But what if we became intentional about creating Flow? What might that mean for our creativity and performance? In this interactive workshop, we will examine and work with the concept of Flow and the benefits of being in a state of Flow. We will learn to recognize the barriers to Flow and explore the conditions to create Flow for ourselves and our teams.
